Time changes everything. This time last year, I was still working in a hospital and looking forward to finishing my provisional registration year, this year I am fully qualified and working in a government health clinic. It's been awhile since I've written anything but I suppose as one grows older, the urge to pour all your feelings online just fade away, and sometimes just posting a quote or picture (ie: on instagram) is enough because a picture is worth a thousand words.
On one hand, I suppose it's a good thing I've written less because I usually only write when I am unhappy but it's been a good year so far (crossing fingers, touching wood). I feel so so thankful and blessed that I still get to stay at home and commute to work everyday despite not being able to choose where I would have worked this year. =) 感恩. And that nothing has changed since May 2013 when you had to leave, and I hope nothing will change when you return for a more permanent stay this time, or that things could only change for the better. Thank you for always choosing me. ILYSM :) And also I really appreciate the fact that I have a very nice and accommodating boss and awesome colleagues to make the hectic clinic working life more bearable. =D And that my friendships with my ex-colleagues and friends from university and Form 1 are still as strong as ever, with no more negativity or toxic relationships in my life. Peace!
The real reason for this post however, is just to reflect on my feelings about the reality that time is really the only constant change in my life. Especially when I see how celebrity couples I used to ship are no longer together and have moved on. . . in only a short space of 1 year! But at our age, romances always develop at lightning speed because time and youth is too precious to waste on not chasing what you really want. Also, I have to admit my own life from 2 years ago and now is also very different. >.< Or just that the object of my obsession's changed. Like how I used to be obsessed with dramas and fictionalized romances, now I'm living my own romance hence no time to invest in heavy dramas with heavy romances. . . but sometimes, I do miss the old me. And the characters I used to be in love with. . . Damon Salvatore! and his real life actor Ian Somerhalder. I do admit that I love to read celebrity gossip about the actors who play characters I love (my guilty pleasure), but only because real life romances are so much more interesting because it's real! But I do get severely disappointed when the sweetness doesn't last. I'm someone who loves all things good and positive in life, but I'm also very sentimental so. . . it will take me some time to get used to new changes.
1st couple: Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev. . . no longer together! And Ian's new serious romance lately is Nikki Reed! Ian and Nina have been together for like 3 years. . . yet this new romance seems to be moving faster than the past relationship.
2nd couple: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. . . finally over for good! And Robert's new serious romance is some upcoming British singer FKA twigs. Robert and Kristen have also been together for like 3-4 years. . . yet, it didn't last. And yes, all these people are actors of vampire-associated movies and dramas when the vampire genre was suddenly the hit thing 3 years ago and now? Nope, can't think of any recent popular vampire-related entertainment anymore. That phase is over. And apparently so are their romances.
And it's things like this that makes me think of my own relationship and whether it could weather the times. . . and what will happen in 3 years time? 3 years is a long time though to be honest. I guess the only conclusion I can make from all these real life dramas is. . . just to live in the present and stop effing worry about the not-too-distant future. 珍惜眼前人.
